Every PS 102 Parent, Guardian, Teacher & Paraprofessional is a member of the PTA! BUT… it’s up to you to become involved in supporting the PTA by donating to fundraisers & volunteering!
Every PTA has an elected board to help maintain and run the PTA. The PS 102 PTA Executive Board members are parent volunteers elected to help run the PTA!
Below are the current board members of the 2025-2026 school year:
Marybeth Allan & Alyson Melhus- Co-Presidents
Raquel McLean – Treasurer
Josh Sidis – Recording Secretary
Allison Calhoun– Corresponding Secretary
Lauren Turbowitz – Financial Secretary
Co-President
Hi there! I’ve been part of the PS 102 community for 3 years, starting as a volunteer, then stepping into the role of Vice President, and now proudly serving as Co-President alongside Alyson. My daughter is entering 3rd grade, and being involved in this school has been such a joy. Through the PTA, we have the chance to make a real difference for both our children and our school. Outside of PS 102, I work as a Creative Producer and co-lead a Girl Scout troop. Our PTA board is made up of busy, working parents, and we’d love for you to join us. Any time you can give makes a big difference; even a little help goes a long way! We are also very open to new ideas/ events and would love to hear from you. I’m excited for the year ahead and look forward to seeing you around school!
Co-President
Hi! I’m Alyson, proud PS102 parent and Co-President of the PTA. I have one daughter who is now in second grade. Since she started Kindergarten at PS102, I’ve gone from being a PTA volunteer to serving as financial secretary—and now, Co-President.
I’m lucky to work alongside an incredible Co-President who shares my passion for building a stronger, more inclusive school community. I’m equally proud of our PTA board—a team full of talented, dedicated individuals whose professional strengths and diverse perspectives will help take PS102’s PTA to the next level. Together, we’re committed to making PS102 an inspiring and connected place for all families.
Treasurer
I am proud to be the PTA Treasurer at PS 102, where I have two children—one in kindergarten and one in 3rd grade. Professionally, I am a Portfolio Manager and Analyst at an asset manager, with over 17 years of experience in finance and investments. I chose to join the PTA as Treasurer because I wanted to put my financial expertise to good use in supporting our school community. I’m continually inspired by the incredible work the PTA does to enrich the experience of every student at PS 102, and I’m honored to be part of that effort.
Recording Secretary
I'm a proud parent of three kids, with two currently attending PS 102. Being part of this school community has been such a meaningful experience, and I enjoy connecting with other families and supporting our children's growth. Though the PTA, I'm excited to help create a welcoming environment and fun opportunities that bring our school community together.
Financial Secretary
I am proud to serve as the Financial Secretary of the PTA at PS 102, where my son will be entering first grade this fall. I chose to join the PTA as Financial Secretary because I wanted to dedicate my time and skills to strengthening our school community and helping make
PS 102 an extraordinary, inclusive place for our children to learn and grow. Professionally, I am a Senior Art Director at a fashion company with over 17 years of experience in art and design.
Being part of the PTA allows me to collaborate with other committed parents and staff, bringing creativity, organization, and care to the work we do. I’m continually inspired by the dedication of our volunteers and the positive impact we have on the students’ experiences, from events and fundraisers to programs that spark joy and curiosity. It’s deeply rewarding to know that the time we put in today helps create lasting memories and opportunities for every child at PS 102.
Corresponding Secretary
It's an honor to serve as Corresponding Secretary for the PS 102 PTA this year. My daughters are in the 2nd and 4th grade, and our family loves this amazing school. Outside of the schoolyard, I run the studio of an internationally acclaimed visual artist — I have worked in the art world for the past 20 years. I’m an avid sourdough baker, and I write and perform music under the name Third Daughter.
I'm committed to diversity and inclusivity, and I'm looking forward to helping everyone stay connected and informed, as well as listening to your concerns. Here's to a great new school year with our PTA!
The PS 102 Parent Teacher Association is dedicated to creating a close-knit, supportive community within our large school of over 1,000 students.
We organize exciting cultural and family-friendly events, provide essential classroom resources for teachers, and so much more!
If your child came home raving about an amazing laser light show assembly, that’s just one example of the experiences we make possible through our fundraising efforts—yes, that was us!
Stay up to date with everything the PTA is working on by joining our monthly general meetings!
Since all meetings are held on Zoom, you can tune in from anywhere.
We’d love for you to join the conversation.
How do we make it all happen?
With the power of fundraising and volunteers—because without volunteers, the PTA wouldn’t function at all!
Every event, fundraiser, and initiative we organize relies on the support of parents and caregivers like you.
Whether you can give an hour, help with planning, or take on a larger role, every bit of time and effort makes a difference.
There are so many ways to get involved, from assisting at events to behind-the-scenes planning. Join us in creating amazing experiences for our students and school community!
PS 102 PTA is proud to bring our community so many wonderful and diverse events—but we can’t do it without YOU! By joining a committee, you’ll help bring events to life from start to finish. It truly takes a village, and the more volunteers we have, the more we can create together. Have a NEW idea for an event? Share it with the committee or board—we’d love to make it happen!
